lillybettybabs
I'm starting to worry a little about Margo one of my skylines, I bought two around six weeks ago both around 18 weeks old, Fran now has nice red comb and started to lay two weeks ago but Fran show no sign of growing up (she has gotten bigger and is eating well) but no sign of comb growing or laying. Do chickens mature at different rates event thought they are from the same flock or could there be some underline problem.
tooties
I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to your question but hopefully someone will be along shortly who knows more I have read on here that individual chickens mature at different rates though. my reason for posting is that I have a skyline also, bought in Nov at POL who has still not laid..... shes not even crouching, so I'm presuming that shes just not mature enough yet. She does have a nice big comb, although it is paler than my other chickens.
lillybettybabs
Maybe it's something to do with the breed still being developed, Very strange.
Seagazer
One of my gingernut rangers was about 40 weeks old before she started laying, plus she's the one that now nearly 2 1/2 years later appears to be slowing up and not laying very often. I think they just all mature at different stages.
JulesL
I've got a cuckoo maran which is the same. She is about 30 weeks now and is showing no signs.

chicken bark
One of my gingernut rangers was about 40 weeks old before she started laying, plus she's the one that now nearly 2 1/2 years later appears to be slowing up and not laying very often. I think they just all mature at different stages. That's given me hope for my Black Star - Seagazer. She's about 36 weeks, has had a lovely big red comb for ages but hasn't laid yet. I had just thought she would never lay.
Seagazer
I did keep threatening Ginger with the pot until she started laying
