Chicken boarders

Our little Mrs Chooken was not looking too bright last night. She had been fine all day and laid an eggk, but she just didn't seem quite right. The back part of her comb was drooping this morning when I let them out and she wasn't too keen to eat with the others, but wandered off on her own pecking at the grass. When I returned about two hours later she was dead. She had been pecked about a bit by the others - presumably after her death. Quite horrid. Anyway, has anyone any idea as to what might have been wrong with her? They have recently been wormed, treated against lice and red mite and the cube has been treated with Diatom. The other two and the cockerel seem to be fine at the moment.

I'm afraid that I don't have experience of chickens and so cannot answer your question but hope that someone else can.

I had one die suddenly and unexpectedly, I'll never know why. Sorry you lost yours

Sorry to hear it - afraid you may never know, it could have been heart failure or it could have been a sudden infection that she'd been hiding the symptoms of. Sometimes it just happens.

Thanks everyone. I've often heard that chickens can die all of a sudden but it is the first time it's happened to us so I thought maybe there was something I was missing.
