Should I be worried?

Recommended Posts

Hi

This is the 1st year I have tried to incubate eggs from our own hens. Should I be worried that they have been in there fore over 4 weeks? There has been movement, but nothing has popped out yet. There was a crack yesturday in one of them, but nothing had happened further this morning. Should I give them a helping hand or leave it?

If they are chickens eggs then they should never get to day 32 unless they are not viable and arent going to hatch

An exploding egg happens when an egg goes rotten under a broody or in an incubator, its unbearably smelly

It sounds like your eggs are duds

Well...i'm seriously at a loss here. Mum pealed away one of the broken bits of the shell last night of the 'exploded egg' and we can see black inside it...but it doesnt smell at all!

Think i'm going to have to candle them tonight and see whats going on in there!

I can now report my findings...

Out of 15 eggs...

13 duds (flippin usuless cockrals!)

2 half formed dead chicks (thats why we could see black inside the crack...it had peeped, but then died :( )

So have now started again...4 new eggs...this time going to candle them BEFORE day 33!!!
