RIP my beautiful Horatio, you will be missed.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Earlier this morning as I went out to let the chickens out from their house, I discovered Horatio the hen Lying in the corner of their run behind the compost bin. I immediately check on the three overs still locked in their house, they were safe and still sleepy. I moved the body out of the enclosure before the others saw her. I noticed there was a small amount of blood on her beak, other than that no sign of injury, it simply looked like she had gone to sleep, her eyes closed lying stiff on the floor.

I am absolutely distraught and would find some small comfort if I new what it was that caused her death.

My dad believes it was some kind of egg clot, as we had not only been getting one egg a day.

Thank you very much for your time in reading this.

Rest in peace my lovely little hen, you will be missed.

Ed

Thank you very much for your thoughts and prayers. They mean a lot to me, as a first time hen keeper i am really sad about what has happened today.

If anyone knows about the cause, please tell me, I could not cope with this happening again, over my negligence.

I don't know how to upload pictures properly on this forum, but my darling was the prettiest Blue Maran, with the softest feathers in the flock.

I will miss you.
