Just made my ex-batts a "special" breakfast of ex-batt crumbs mushed with a little water, cod liver oil and crushed baked eggshell, served in the remains of half a melon. Does that sound ok, how much egg shell should I give them and how often? They're now having a lovely time picking at the remains of the melon (mash has all gone)!

Don't know about the eggshell - but it sounds lovely! Maybe it should have had a cherry on the top? or a pink paper umbrella?

Wow - lucky ex batts.

 

I don't think they'd be a 100% happy with that though. Perhaps you could handfeed them peeled grapes whilst fanning them with a fern. That ought to do it!

I hope you included the melon seeds which mine love.

Actually no, I didn,t give them the seeds but I did wonder if it would be ok, will definitely give them those next time, thanks!!!!

Just make sure that their layers mash/pellets/crumbs make up at least 95% of their feed and go easy on the treats at the beginning of the day.Otherwise their health and laying ability will suffer.
