sage
Vera has been off colour for a week, shell-less or no eggs. She is off her food and spends time in the nesting box vent pouting like mad. Took her to vets on Saturday and no egg stuck. Vet suggested as she is eating but very little that I force fed her. The last couple of evenings I have blended pro yoghurt, mealworms, sunflower hearts and a little honey into a loose paste. I have tried to syringe it down her with limited success. My main problem is getting her break open. She is a little star sat on my knee she doesn’t get stressed it's as if she knows I'm trying to help her Is there a knack to break opening
foreveryoung
did the vet give you a feeding tube?? Ive had to force feed one of mine (and a couple of ducks as they stopped eating due to shock) Id wait till early morning andlast thing at night whn they are calm and alls quiet to limit the stress on them, then Id wrap them up with a towel and insert the feeding tube (aiming to the front of the bird (you can feel the tube in the crop) and then slowly suringe te feed into them. its quiet a stressful for the birds and I hated putting them through it but they all picked up and started to feed themselves after a while. Patricia W
I've only ever used a syringe and just put it in the corner of the beak and dribbled a bit in slowly. I know you have to be careful not to get it in their lungs. Hope she's better Tricia
Plum
I tuck mine under left arm facing forward and take my hand over her head and press corners of her mouth and hold head up so neck is extended. Hope that makes sense
