johnandkymberley
Hi, all just wanted to give you a update, the sour crop and lump above her breast bone has gone! shes eating again and looking much better, however her eye is still shut, vet said he doesnt want to see her unless she has any swelling, puss, crustiness or liquid. So we are bathing her eye with cold tea, does anyone know how long i should do this and how many times a day? Should i try and get it in the eyeball or on the eyelid? After i had bathed it i let her in the garden a bit, she walked round to the cube and cried to get in, i let her in and she went straight in the cube with her sister, it pulled my heart strings when i had to take her out as i dont want them to peck her cuz of the injury, could i put her back in or not? thanks xx
Plum
Good news that the crop has gone down. I would try and open her eyelid a bit when you clean them to check they are not stuck together. Otherwise just bathe the lids I would do it at least twice a day.
johnandkymberley
Hi, no the eyelids arent stuck together, when we put the tea on she blinks, we are doing it once an hour, so that seems enough. But how long is the timeline? when should i start to worry? we do try and bathe her eye and squeeze some on her to soak it so to say, does anyone think i can put her back with her sisters? thanks x
johnandkymberley
Hi all, another update! Took Willow to the vets y.day, the tea wasnt helping and she had some clear liquid coming out of it so enough was enough. Got her to the vets in a rhino tub! lol she sat lovely tho and everyone loved her at the vets! The vet was AMAZING, gave her some numbing stuff to stop the pain, put some dye in to check for damage etc She has a little s"Ooops, word censored!"e on her eye that should heal naturally but he has given me some antiseptic eye drops to stop any infection and to speed up the healing process. She has got her eye open today! shes going back to check her vision and any scarring on her eye, i feel much better now and for everything it cost us about £75 which all in all i didnt think was too bad for all the treatment, 2 visits and he is a avian specialist!
