Stoat killed hens asleep in the Eglu

[chickenNutter]

Well after 13 months of chicken keeping, and with a reluctant OH I have finally managed to get him to convert our existing pergola to a WIR, and I'm sooooo excited! We took time off work last week and I finally finished making the chicken activity centre to go in it at the weekend, having been let loose with OH's precious power tools. We had a grand opening on Sunday evening when my mum cut the ribbon (garden twine). I'm so proud!

Now, how to sneak a couple of extra chickens in without OH noticing........

[batcatz]

Hi, your run looks great. Brilliant idea to convert the pergola!

[Plum]

Beautiful, I can see why you are proud. You've made it great for the girls and so good to look at.

Ahh well done that looks really nice, betya ya chooks love it. oh, and OHs never notice the odd extra chicken! its one of those 'what? this old thing? ive had it for ages!'

[janeears]

What an amazing WIR!! I hope to be joining your exclusive club in the next couple of months.....

That looks really good, Well Done

I've been procrastinating for months about getting a WIR as it is going to be right along side our conservatory, If I could disguise it to look like a pergola I would be much happier, so thanks for posting your pictures.

Great idea well done!

[Jules.]

It looks absolutely wonderful

[beach chick]

that is extremely beautiful, and so much a part of your garden. arent you - and your girls - lucky!

[chickenNutter]

Thank you so much for the lovely comments. I had the eglu and run underneath the pergola before, and as our garden is really tiny, I was worried that if I fenced the pergola in, it would dominate the garden even more, as I am as mad about plants and gardening as I am about chooks. But now it is finished I am really pleased with it and how it looks!

The girls seem to really like it to, as even when I let them out to their free range area, they keep going back inside! The activity area seems to be a big success too! It was my first foray going solo with power tools, and there are some pretty dodgy joints and funny angles, but the girls like it which is what matters!

Now for those two extra chickens.......

[Ms Marple]

Now you've got the hang of the powertools, make a little segragated area and just pop them in he'll never notice!!!!
