Recommended Posts

My post has disappeared!!

Anyway here it is again :D

Well done everyone

My eldest son receives his GCSE results next week :anxious:

He didn't seem to revise much at home but assured me he was doing lots at school

He didn't revise for his mocks as he was testing his knowledge...some results good, some not so :wall:

All will be revealed next week

Devon should have the UMS score she got for each module, Sarah, and thetotal UMS its out of - look at the exam boards website and see what the grade boundaries were, that'll tell you how far off she was :)

Her 'B' is 1 point off an 'A' & her 'C' is 3 points off a 'B' :?

Looks like a re mark could be beneficial, then.

As said they can go down with remarks - more likely to go up or down with things like coursework rather than something like maths with just one answer, but they were all brand new courses for my year, so in their 2nd year for Devon ... examiners can make mistakes etc, but they are marked my a couple of people.

If you don't go for a re-mark she will need to get a high A and B in the next modules, for them to average out at that :)

If it were me I'd remark the B and leave the C but re-take the module next Jan or June.

I think that is what we are going to speak to her tutor about,Lewis,to see the best way forward from here.

She feels like she did really well in the exam (it was English,so no real rights or wrongs),& this has really knocked the stuffing out of her :? ,especially as she was thinking of doing English at Uni too.

Ah, that's a very inventive reason. My two haven't come up with that one as yet... Is your son interested in politics, by any chance?

No he isn't interested in politics as far as I know...he has a natural flare for business...according to his Learning Guide who was also his Business Studies tutor :|

He hopes to study Business Studies, Psychology, Sociology at A level

We've just got back from holiday but DD got her As results phoned through yesterday. She got B in English language and C in German, Music and Maths. She was disappointed  and has changed her mind about what she wants to do at Uni now. She did want to do Music but they want high grades where she wants to go, and so is going to do German somewhere instead. We will get her unit scores in the post tomorrow hopefully and we can go from there. I just said she has a year still to go to improve her marks and maybe she should drop Maths as she spends lots of time keeping up at that as she finds it hard.

got unit marks today - does anyone know if you can redo coursework in January? Her music coursework was what let her down ( so much for the teachers!! ) so if she could resit and get a better mark that would make a huge difference.

We can re-take our Science coursework (practical + written paper) and they can be done any time as long as they're submitted before May. Worth asking school :)

Well done to her - they're still good grades, and as you say, still a year to go! :D
