Mrs Webmuppet
The 'blue stripe' mint sauce is a mean loo cleaner..............tipped a couple of jars of it down the loo, (it's way too runny to go in the bin) and the pan was shinier than after all that hi-tech loo cleaning stuff! I don't normally like throwing stuff away but the mint sauce is totally inedible!
Guest
I too often buy stuff and throw it out but I hate getting the labels off! The cheapy farm shop is a good source of jars too. This year I am going to be adding some cake mixes in empty coffee jars to mine. I also include a little leaflet giving information about all of the contents and a recipe for a fruit cake which can be made with the mincemeat. welovemarmite
As I am new to all this i need to ask a question. Is it ok to use the lakeland jam jars with the screw on lids for pickling or are they only suitable for jams.
ClaireG
The Lakeland lids have a plasticy coating on the inside, so are fine for chutneys, pickling etc

stehaggan
I just thought I would boost this up too see what everyone has been making. Today I have baked my 34th Xmas cake (2 large, 32 small) as presents - only 8 more to go but they can wait till after my exam. We also finished our last batch of delias Xmas chutney - all 32 jars of them - 16 all decorated 16 to go . Also some cheese biscuits from delis Xmas cookbook which were a tester for Xmas and are delicious - also wrapped two presents very Eco friendly with no cello tape or glue just old hessian colour material and red ribbon but very nice. A day off from revision and I'm nearly ready for Xmas lol x

stehaggan
I don't think you are allowed to post something as nice looking as the white chocolate fudge without the recipe
Guest
I don't think you are allowed to post something as nice looking as the white chocolate fudge without the recipe it is lovely but deceptively easy! 500g white chocolate 397g tin condensed milk about 75g dried cranberries or you can use whatever mix of dried fruit/nuts you like really. over a VERY low heat in a heavy based pan, melt the choc with the CM, better to keep stirring so you don't get any hot spots which can split the choc. when all melted and combined, turn off heat and add fruit/nuts and stir to combine and spoon it into a silicone baking tray (easier to remove from one of those) and put in a cold place to set. I had to make a ton of it this year, thank goodness it's easy!
