Oh blimey, you sound like me! My Eglu isn't quite two months old but I'm already thinking that a cube would be nice!!!!:wink:

Are you planning to expand your flock or is it simply to give your existing girls more space (or is that a stupid question :wall: )?

Have fund assembling it. hope there aren't too many left over bits you can't figure out what to do with!!

Of course I'm thinking of expanding my flock Bramble :lol::lol:

I just can't make my mind up whether to get a few hybrids or pure breeds at the moment :?

My hens do love their Eglu but I have so many problems with the inadequate run that we decided a WIR would be better and then that kind of escalated to having a Cube inside it. Of course we need the Cube first I told other half, so that the WIR can be built around it.

I'm not sure how the hens will feel about the Cube. I am hoping, weather permitting, that my OH will get the Cube up like yesterday

Then I can just put it in the garden and let my hens get used to the sight of it. I do hope we don't have any leftover bits. I will post a pic once it's put together :D

Well, I'm dead excited for you, I love putting "stuff" together, so maybe I should pop round and help (it'll be great practice for me for when I get my Cube :wink: ). Think you should have a bluebelle or a blue haze (maybe you can have that one for me!) that's what I would have had, had I not gone for ex-batts.

I cannot have a Cube, repeat after me, I cannot have a Cube, say NO Bramble you CANNOT have a Cube ... :wall::wall::wall:

You can have a Cube, you can have a Cube, go on you know you want to (cube green)(cube red)(cube pink)(cube blue)(cube purple)(cube orange)(cube lilac)

Well, you're no help, are you!!!! Yes that's exactly the problem, I DO want to, but I've got a tiny garden, and having only just bought an eglu I can't justify having a Cube (I could sell the Eglu, but what's the betting I'd end up with chucks in the cube AND the eglu)

So, repeat after me, Bramble CANNOT have a Cube, or another Eglu, or any more chucks or anything, NO NO NO NO

Keep ex-battery in the Eglu it is easier for them and you can have what you want in the cube. Go for it.

Oh, okay then, if you absolutely insist perhaps I'll have to have a cube, but then what colour would I have (purple to match the eglu, or a different colour to make the garden look really funky?) Then of course I'd have to decide whether to have an cube run or make a WIR, then what to put in it (in terms of "furnishings & flooring") what sort of chucks to have ... my head hurts already!!!!

Merecedes congrats on your new Cube, I am so envious  , I am about to have an eglu but certain it wont be long before upgrading to the Cube... hee hee.

Look forward to pics when you get chance.

Congratulations! I know you have been waiting for this day! I had my purple cube for a week, then changed back to my wooden house and another week later the cube was gone to a happy new owner! I hope it is everything you hoped it would be! Trust me, you will not sleep tonight from all the excitement and the thoughts that will fill your head about runs, and breeds and and and...! :D

Good for you Bramble. Half the fun is deciding what colour and style you want. I went for a green cube because I live on an end house and hoped the green would be less obvious if any one looked over but my freind has a purple one in her WIR and it looks great. I went for the run with an extra 1mtr run. I would have liked a WIR but if you see how long it takes OH to do any DIY I would never have got my chooks. I also let them free range, netting half of the garden off. Oh yes I do have a small garden also.

Well we are very impatient in our household and decided to put the Cube together in the front room

It took about 45mins to put together as we only have the Cube and not the run, so not as much work as it would have been. My OH seemed to think it was quite easy to put together, although it needs tweaking a bit to get it all fitting snugly as there are gaps. I guess we knew there would be, but OH is an engineer and if he can't sort it then I don't know who can :?
