Egluntyne
Have a look in the FAQ section, there is an artlcle there about dealing with broody hens.
chickyhazel
If you want her to lay eggs stop her being broody, if you want to hatch eggs let her. Personally I would stop her.
chicken bark
IMO you need to stop her as it is a little late in the year for young to go outside. Put her in a wire bottomed cage up on bricks for 3 days and nights. Make sure she has food and water and hopefully the cold air and being uncomfortable will break her broodiness. migsy
When my Speckledy went broody I put her in a large cat box for a day and then I just kept her out of the coup for a few days. I picked her out in the morning and shut the door so she could not get back in until bedtime. After about 3 days she was "cured". She looked truly when she was broody. goodinparts
Following the advice on the FAQ I popped Broody Brigid into a puppy cage for 3 days/nights...She was very grumpy about it, & I felt terribly guilty - specially as her sisters kept chatting to her through the mesh & telling her to come out to play...but it worked. She came out of the cage on Saturday and today we are back to 3 eggs, 1 from each girl. So pleased as OH very sceptical about my hens - so they need to be productive to keep him happy.
