HENthusiastic
hi. I keep hearing about a county parish holding number, but I dont really know what it is. Ive got chickens, 3 ducks, 4 quail. I've just got signed on with DEFRA's poultry register, but should I have a CPH number as well because of the alpaca? The bloke I spoke to at DEFRA didn't know. Does anybody know how / where I find out. Is it to do with defra? Thanks for any comments.

Redwing
You dont need a holding number for poultry I'm not sure about the Alpacas though.. we have one because of the sheep The CPH bit is how the number is made up - numbers for county, parish and then a unique number on the end for your particular holding
Blackrocksrock
I would imagine you would need for the alpaca - all cloven hoofed animals and its easier then for the government agencies to see who has stock for things like foot and mouth disease - and they will be registered as stock keepers.
