Slimming World

Recommended Posts

I'd like to join slimming world but I live in a small town where everyone knows me as I work in the local school. A lot of the parents from school go to the club and I would just die on the spot to meet them there. It was bad enough a few weeks ago to have a cervical smear test carried out by the Grandma of one the children in my class. I was so embarrased. I really would like to do slimming world at home on my own with support from OH and close friends. Anyone got a spare set of Slimming World books lurking at home?

I have, but do go to your local meeting - everyone is there for the same reason and it's a really good giggle. They never read out how much you weigh, only if you've lost and only if you want them to, the weigh in is somewhere discreet. I lost a stone and kept it off, it's the only "proper diet" I've ever used and it wsa so easy to use.

If you want my book I can let you have it, just pm me

I've had great success with the Harcombe Diet (just a diet book) but I've lost a stone in a month, but more importantly feel so much better - you get to eat proper food too..and as much of it as you like - no calorie counting or points..just sensible healthy food. (I promise no starving involved and nothing unhealthy or faddy). I've cancelled my Weight Watchers online subscription. OK you say, what's the drawback..well you do have to give up sugar, and all processed foods but the science is well explained, and certainly it's worked for me. There is a web site too for inspiration and sharing. I've already lent out my book to a friend who was very impressed by the results I got or I would offer to send it to you.

You can pay and do SW online at home or go to one meeting further afield to get the books and then don't go back. There's also minimins.com. I'm doing it and I don't think it's a diet at all, it's healthy eating. Also, on Extra Easy you don't even have to weigh things out unless you want to eat certain things eg cheese

Hello! I was really pleased when I found SW, it seemed like the perfect diet for me, trouble was, I didnt lose any weight on it. I think I took the "free food" a bit too literally. I didnt find going to group helpful at all, I couldnt understand why I didnt lose weight, but the leader just said "if you stick to the plan you'll lose weight". As far as I could tell, I did stick to the plan, but I think she thought I was less than truthful with my food diary whch wasnt the case at all.

Id go to a class to get the books, then DIY - there's a fab SW forum, if you google "slimming world ivillage" you'll find it, loads of info on there. Good luck!

Support is they key to any weight loss, in my experience. What works for one may not work for another, I have lost 3 st on SW and have done better the weeks I stayed to group although I couldnt really say why. I agree its more a healthy eating plan than a trditional diet. I do know its important to do all 3 parts of the plan HEa+b, synd as well as free foods...less syns will not improve weight loss..its more likely to stop it. Slow and steady is generally agreed to be the best way to lose weight and keep it off. Good luck with whatever you decide ...let us know how you get on
