Chickendoodle
Don't know if it's because I'm getting older but I am finding myself becoming increasingly more irritated by little things. I read a really good thriller the other day , the new Tess Gerritson one, but I had to read over 2 thirds of the book before the plot reached the bit it had already told me was going to happen on the front cover. It really ruined it for me and I seem to be finding it more and more with books recently - not aware it used to happen and I have always been an avid reader. Please Publishers - don't do it! It also happens a lot with TV programmes - at the beginning of the programme they will show clips of all the exciting things that you would see if only you watched it, but there is now no point because you have already seen them. I have been watching the excellent Lost Land of the Tiger this week but it has been spoilt because on the news and on every clip at the beginning of the programme they show that they have found the tigers at high altitude - surely it isn't news to the BBC, I don't expect the programme was only finished last week, so why headline it on the news - oh, is that to publicise the programme? I know it's not a thriller but it would have been much more exciting to watch if we didn't know that the tigers had been discovered. I am not an idiot and I can decide to read a book without seeing almost the entire plot laid out before me!
Ain't Nobody Here
I totally agree with you. It's very irritating . That, and the recap they show after each and every advert. I feel like shouting at the tv "I've been watching it, I KNOW what just happened, I can remember things for more than 3 minutes ".
C&T
Agree whole heartedly! I don't know why they feel the need to ruin the plots - I would get much more enjoyment from things if they didn't. And as for those constant "reminders" of what happened 2 mins ago... Calamity Jane
I think everyone must be shouting out at their TV's at the same time.!!
Valkyrie
Re programmes - record and fast forward - then the trailer for "next week's exciting episode" can be cut off before it starts! Bit different with a book though. Some books that OH has been reading has a couple of chapters at the end of each book that start the next in the series. Which seems very odd when I started reading that book some time later - I thought I'd already read it!
kerryegg
I agree with every thing so far and add my personal hate of announcers who tell you the result of an earlier motor race as part of their intro before showing it. Euro sport are the worst.
