Is your dog's unusual barking a secret code for something mysterious?

Yup poor spicy nearly met her maker!, tried the olive oil in vent, but nothing poor love was so exhausted!.. then i came across a link on chicken keeper, they said to submerged hen very warm water, for over 20 mins.....

So Spicy and i had a bath, she love it and soon fell asleep! i let her rest for the 20 mins, then i again stimulated her vent, she strained and i kept the egg forward by keeping my hand under her back vent, the egg came out it was a triple yolk!

 

I blow dried her she liked this too .. warm but low power!...

 

she is so happy! what a difference!

 

 

as you all must know hens dont often survive this,

It says over 20 mins, on chicken keeper, we must of been an 3/4s, ...lol i'm a chicken midwife!.. we had a water birth!

Hi sorry to be so dumb - what were Spicy's symptoms when egg bound? Maisie my is not herself at the moment, not laying, quiet, not eating/drinking - slightly drooping comb, ok to FR round the garden and peck and forrage but no much else - I have no idea what is wrong with her - could she be egg bound? What signs should I look for if she is?

She may just have a soft shelled egg on the way rather than being egg bound which is more common. How long has she been off colour?
