Griffin
Well here's a first for me, one of my eggs has pipped at the wrong end I'm really surprised, it's only day 18 and it's a LF mongrel egg that's pipped. I candled them all yesterday, have 16 that have made it so far, a mixture of green/blue egg laying mongrels, Silkies and frizzle Pekins. I remarked to a friend yesterday that one didn't look quite right when I candled it and sure enough that's the one that has pipped! It's an odd shaped egg, not as rounded as it should be, it's quite long. Fingers crossed it's inhabitant manages to figure the way out! craftyhunnypie
Awww fingers crossed. I once had a silkie pip the wrong end. It managed to unzip, but just couldn't flip the top off & ooze itself out. I'm afraid I did have to help. I only literally flipped the egg top off - it then oozed itself out no problem. The silkie girl called Basehunter now has children of her own all over England! Good luck! Emma.x

chick wiggle
Awww how they doing this morning? Hope the 'lost' one managed to right itself?
Griffin
4 pipped when I got up has now risen to 5. No further progress from the lost one. I did whip it out for a quick inspection but he's not ready yet. I guess Mother Nature told him to start making his way out because he was in trouble. I'll keep an eye on him. The 5th pipper has made a lot of progress really quickly so I expect to see it quite soon
Griffin
Two mongrels popped out at exactly the same time, 9.30am. They're now busy trampling on the others I think there are about six other pippers. Still no progress from Mr Pointy.
craftyhunnypie
Any frizzles pipped yet? Come on Mr.Pointy! Emma.x
Griffin
I've got the frizzles & Silkies mixed up, if I had to put money on it I'd say there are four of each. Some have pipped and I cannot wait to see them! It's the mongrel eggs making the most progress though, can't believe they're out on day 19. You can imagine how hard it was persuading four children to go to school this morning! The eldest two have a half day today so will be home at lunch time to see the chicks, there were tears from the younger two who don't finish until 3pm. chick wiggle
Awww bless the little kiddies, its not fair for them is it, especially when you had timed it so well to have day 21 on a weekend and then the little blighters decide to come early Keeping fingers crossed for Mr Pointy Cant wait for piccies
Griffin
We have a frizzle Pekin Hatched at 11.26am and is now huddled in a corner exhausted. It's yellow & black or grey, mainly yellow by the looks of things. Most of the other eggs have pipped, I think there are only two that I've not seen even wobble yet. Griffin
Six chicks out so far, three mongrels, two frizzle Pekins and a Silkie All the others have pipped Mr Pointy still not ready to hatch yet but is breathing. I suspect he'll need help eventually. I really really hope he'll be ok.

Griffin
A lavender Pekin has joined the party This lot are not wasting any time It really is inconvenient though, I'm going out tomorrow until 3pm. When I arranged it I thought it'd be ok and I chose for them to be born at the weekend! I've even booked to have the weekend off work The brooder is still gathering dust in the garage too I'm going to leave them all in the incy until I get back tomorrow just so that I know they're ok while I'm out. craftyhunnypie
I've stopped turning mine earlier. I hope my hatchlings don't take long to hatch - I'm so impatient! I too have got to set my brooder up yet. They have been wobbling a lot. Any pics of all your babies yet? Emma.x

Griffin
Mr Pointy is ok One of the mongrels that had pipped has died in it's shell during the night though There are just two Silkies and one mongrel egg left to hatch now. I was wrong about having four frizzle eggs left at the end, there were five and they've all hatched I think three are black, one lavender and there is one biscuity straw kind of coloured one. One of the black ones is very dark, it's not the Silkie I thought it was but without taking them out the incy yesterday I couldn't tell. A Silkie hatched during the night, our first ever gold one, but it's got five toes on one foot and only four on the other Molly said her friend Cameron at school has nine toes so that's what she's called it, Cameron So relieved that Mr Pointy is doing well. Fingers crossed the other three arrive safely. Photos later when I move them all
Griffin
The grand total of 14 have now hatched, 6 mongrels, 5 frizzle Pekins and 3 Silkies All but the last two Silkies are now creating merry hell in the brooder Seeing that many chicks flat out asleep with each other is one of the cutest sights on earth though. Mr Pointy is doing really well. The mongrels are all totally different colours, mums are hybrids and dads are Cream Legbars. One looks just like a female CL chick but the others are all a mish mash. There are 3 black Pekins, 1 lavender and 1 biscuity coloured chick. The Silkies are all different colours too, gold, white & blue. I'll take photos of the white & blue Silkie when I move them but for now here's the other 12 The famous Mr Pointy: Cameron: And his odd feet: Biscuity Pekin: An angry looking Pekin The one who looks most like her dads: I love the ginger stripes on this one:

craftyhunnypie
Aww all those chickies together. Soooo cute! I too like the ginger striped one - a bit like a Garfield chick! Mine haven't pipped yet & I'm getting sooo impatient. All 5 have been seen wobbling loads. It's day 19 as fro 4.30pm today, so maybe over night. Hubby swears they will hatch during X factor tomorrow, which I love to watch. Emma.x

Griffin
I've noticed this afternoon that on Camerons fourth toe he has two claws. Not sure if they'll be two seperate claws or if it's a deformed one but it kind of looks as if his fifth toe didn't quite grow properly, maybe the fourth & fifth are fused together somehow. All the chicks are eating and drinking well. The yellow & ginger striped chick was the first to jump on top of the electric hen, shortly followed by his awe inspired LF friends. The Pekins & Silkies can only look on in envy because they're so tiny
