Chucky Mama
We usually go away at half term but ES has just got a weekend job at a new J Lewis which opens over half term. He 'forgot' to fill in that we had holiday planned for that week and so now has to work Sat, Mon & Tues I really need to have some time away that week. There are so many holiday cottage companies online I am going crosseyed. Anyone have a good company that they use or any tips for UK last minute cheapo holiday websites? We only need 3 nights yet some are quoting £600+ There seem to be loads of places in Scotland or Cornwall but we don't want to be driving hours for such a short break We may have to stay at home and plan day trips but I would prefer to escape. Daphne
I don't kow about holiday cottages but would staying in a hotel be any good? They are often very on the ball figuring that getting in some money for a last minute holiday is better than no money so they update prices regularly. If so, I use TripAdvisor to get a ranking of hotels in the place I'm keen on, then click on the bit where they bring up a list of quotes - which are via intermediaries and can be very competitive. If that doesn't work I google 'cheap hotels in X'. I have had some bargains by doing this (notably lastminute.com).
Chucky Mama
Thanks Daphne, I will have a look. Problem is we are 5 + Dog and there are few enough triple rooms around at the best of times.
The Dogmother
Try this as a starting point. I have a whole load of dog-friendly accommodation links.
