Newbie Question!

I've seen a few photos where people have a flowerpot or two in the run.

Are chickens keen gardeners? (my girls are more like weapons of mass destruction in the garden)

Or is there some other flowerpot thing going on that I don't know about?

They are nice for them to perch on.

Plus in the summer you can drip citronella oil onto the terracotta, & it will soak in,giving off a fragrance that deters flies

I put an old sunflower plant and pot in the run, but they didn't really bother with it much - now that it's just on the outskirts of the run, they seem to love pecking away at it!

 

Also got a 'dustbath' - a cheap plastic pot from the supermarket, filled with play sand, bits of gravel and conifer bush and they love it!
