Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Oddly, it has begun flowering today, of all days , and has a rather different scent

It hasn't had any water or soil since I bought it at Grand Designs on the 8th. I do have it standing in an empty pot now, due to its instability as it grows.

 

I've put the breadmaker on and am letting it do a cheese and tomato loaf, to mask the smell of the lily

The smell is obvious once you are in close proximity to the plant, roughly 2 feet at the moment but the smell is getting stronger

 

It really smells like something died

 

Some greenfly have found it so it obviously works in attracting insects to pollinate it! I understand it has heat producing abilities to make the smell go further too

I didn't realise it stank until this morning

 

I've read that once the flower is fully opened the smell starts to fade. It has unfurled a bit more since this morning. I'm presently sitting about six feet away but can't really smell anything.

My saffron have just started to open - no smell there

I have saffron crocus too, looks like they are blind though, I can't see any flower buds coming up

mine just looked like strands of grass to be honest - checked them one day that was all they were, then looked at them the next day and there is 5 flowers open so just keep checking on them and they will probably open soon as there is still lots that look like grass strands
