stripeybunny
I got my first hens last weekend. Let them out to free range for the first time today and Rhubarb laid an egg Rhubarb (Goldline) Crumble (Cream Crested Legbar) and Custard (Amber Star)

Sandy2572
They are gorgeous and have fantastic names. We let our kids name the hens - need I say more... I'm also very envious - I got my first 3 hens just over 2 weeks ago and none are laying yet, but then they are still a bit young (20 weeks old). How old are your girls? Mine have started to feed out of my hand and went mad at the weekend when we treated them to some live mealworms Even my 16month old son was trying to feed them . They now follow us around the garden - it's wonderful!
stripeybunny
Hi Sandy, I'm not sure how old they are to be honest. I wasn't really concentrating on that information when we collected them! I know that Rhubarb is older than the other 2 and she was outside with the laying chickens rather than in with the POL chickens. Rhubarb and Custard will eat layers pellets but Crumble will still only eat 'layers porridge' think she needs a bit of tough love to get used to dried pellets but I feel so sorry for her that I always give in and make her porridge! Hope yours start to lay soon
