Emergency feed help needed

Recommended Posts

Having left chicken care to OH while I have been getting over my op, I have just today taken it back on and found we are down to the last day's food. The farm shops are all snowed in and the snow is too treacherous to drive in anyway, so I need to know what I can feed them in a pinch that I can get locally or may have in the cupboards. Dang OH!!! He's not one for planning, the fool.

Hmm, boiled rice, scrambled egg ( if they are laying), boiled potatoes, all the usual greens etc , boiled pasta, porridge oats. Trying to think what I have in my cupboards sutable for chooks . What about broth mix? - the stuff with split peas and lentils etc, have you got any of that to boil up ?

All the above pluss raisins. They will think it is Christmas if you make them a poridge up of all the above. Cooked mashed carrots, Sweet corn (frozen or tinned) are also good.

I have been making them breakfast by making them a poridge of there garvo mix and add raisins and a little cod liver oil.

For supper about 3pm Porridge oats, sweetcorn, raisins, corn and dash of codliver oil made into a poridge and garnished with meal worms.

They love it. :lol::lol::lol:
