Willow
I think I saw someone write about these books here but I can't find it. These are books that a grandchild can give a grandparent to fill in details of their life ? does anyone know what they are called and who sells them ? debbier
It's nearly 18 years since I gave one to my m-i-l! She has been treating it as an exam, I think, and insists she must get everything "right" before she fills it in. So she hasn't done anything at all. I was hoping to get a few recollections about her family, but especially memories and recollections of her husband, and his family, as he sadly died when my OH was very young, and didn't have any siblings. I'm not being funny, but have my doubts as to whether she will ever do it
Willow
Humm sounds like it worth trying one but I'll need to follow-up to get it completed. I think I'll get my boys to give one to my dad first and see how we get on. Thanks ! I knew an omletter would know the answer
chickencam
We bought one from Vinegar Hill and then bought 3 more on ebay where they were a couple of pounds cheaper with free delivery.

I think that's what my Dad is doing with his I think he's worried that he falls short but I just want him to fill in the bits he feels comfortable with. Reikiranf
Please do nag the grandparents to fill them in, I bought my parents one when I was pregnant with my youngest one 17 years ago as I thought it would be a nice way to record a bit of family history, sadly Mum & Dad both died at the beginning of this year and I was devastated to find the book still blank We are looking forward to the birth of our first grandchild in February and will definitely be filling in a book
debbier
sadly Mum & Dad both died at the beginning of this year and I was devastated to find the book still blank That is so sad, but I have an awful premonition that I'll find the same thing (if she doesn't outlive me!). I have tried to nudge her into doing it, but she didn't like being nagged at all. I think I may suggest that my OH asks for it as his birthday present next year, as she may be more likely to do it then. I was just looking for snippets/anecdotes/first things to spring to mind, we won't be marking it or checking for spelling errors!
Lesley
My Dad is writing his on spare bits of paper *sigh* I'll have a go at asking him in the new year. I gave one to my Mum as well (they're long divorced) and she hasn't mentioned it at all
