Blocked Crop? Food Still there in morning.

Recommended Posts

Happy Christmas all,

Davina (head Chooky) hasn't been herself over Christmas. She' pretends' to eat when we watch her. She's grain and food in her crop that's loose and easily manipulated by finger. I think she's got a blockage between the crop and stomach.

I've tried using codliver oil and mixed with grain, and grit.

She's milling around outside (now the snows going) with the other girls, but all's not well really and she haunches up like a big fluff ball.

Vets shut till tomorrow.

Any advice please? Thanks

Thanks for asking. Typical, she seemed to be empty when she saw the vet. He's given her some antibiotics orally, and she's starting to feel better. She started to fight off the others and guard her food from the others (a good sign, as she is the boss). Now the snows gone, she's digging around with the others too.

Keep you posted about anything else.

Happy New Year

Well, Davina is charging around the place, being top chook once again. Vet couldn't find anything wrong with her. He gave her booster from heal-x, and she picked up within a day. We couldn't believe she was the same hen.

She's now stuffing her face, and letting them know who's the boss. She'd previously just sat there like a model.
