Chicken Wellies is there such a thing ?

Recommended Posts

Another warning about Joules wellies; I bought a pair of their Carrick yard boots just before Christmas (from another outlet as Joules were out of stock). I am a size 2.5 and ordered a size 3; they turned up and the right boot was a whole size smaller than the left and impossible to get on, spoke to the retailer (Dornoch Outdoor, who were brilliant) sent them back and they sent me a pair of size 4s as they'd run out of 3s.

Those were lovely - stylish and warm, but split up the back on both boots. Spoke to Dornoch again who had had several pairs returned with the same fault; they have refunded me the full amount plus the cost of postage. I sent an email and photos to them and Joules... Joules couldn't have been less bothered!

I now have a pair of lovely warm (and durable) muck boots! :D

Here's the response I got from Joules.... silly me thinking they could be worn in wet weather.

Good afternoon Laurie,

Many thanks for your email.

I am sorry to hear that your daughter's wellies have deteriorated so quickly. I am not aware with any common faulty in any of our welly's, however, they are more of a fashion item then a hard wearing work boot.

I chased up this comment and got this in return:

"Our current range of wellies are fashion pieces and therefore may not be suitable for heavy usage."

I wonder what counts as 'heavy usage'.... wearing for more than one weekend at Glastonbury - and only then in dry weather

I'd better not buy Joules wellies any time soon then, as I want to be kept dry and warm when I'm outdoors rather than look like a fashion item.
