Sam Posted January 20, 2011 Share Posted January 20, 2011 Helloo My chicken Matilda has been standing very funny today. Her head has been low to the ground and her tail end very high. Her eyes were very sleepy and she barely moved, just stood there. Marmite sometimes does this, but thats when she looks scared because of a bird above but Matilda isn't scared at all, and it was like her whole back end was raised. Just looked at her in the eglu and shes still the same! If pics needed, will take some tomorrow. What do you think this could be?! Sam Posted January 20, 2011 Author Share Posted January 20, 2011 Yes she lays every morning, I don't think she has missed a day yet (not to my knowledge anyway) and she is around 35weeks. Sam Posted January 21, 2011 Author Share Posted January 21, 2011 Thank you, followed your advice and took the food out, and Matilda came flying out to my relief!! I checked her over while the others searched aimlessly for their food Her crop had gone back down and vent still normal. Checked in the eglu, and instead of her normal egg there was a soft egg under the roost bars! Never thought I'd be so happy to see one! Gave her some porridge with some extra grit for calcium. Thank you so much Redwing - means so much that you would be prepared to do that! Thank you CNM - my fingers were crossed too! Omletina Kyckling Posted January 21, 2011 Share Posted January 21, 2011 Fabulous, so glad to hear she's ok, it's amazing what a night's sleep and a soft egg can do for a hen! Pia used to sometimes lay a big egg in a morning and then a big softie in the evening and she'd stand out in the garden in an odd way (but not beak downwards, more tail downwards) and then out would pop a big softie.
