Our insurance company won't pay out for political unrest and say that it is up to the tour operator to refund us in full or offer us an alternative destination. We have to wait for a week before we travel to see what the foreign office say and if they still say it is unsafe to travel to Egypt, then we will get our money back.

Our travel company are being very hush hush. No mention of the fact that the president has fled to Sharm el sheikh & that there are now tanks there! Oh & that holiday makers in Sharm are trying to flee!

I have emailed them with my concerns & am hoping for a reply later. They are not letting on everything! Surely our safety comes first?

Been thinking about all of you who have holidays booked to Egypt - i know how much you have been looking forward to them, what a shame Are you able to cut your losses and ask the travel agents to find you an alternative holiday? Then at least you still get to go away, but in the knowledge that you will be safer? Must be very hard though

My FIL went to their travel agents yesterday, Thompsons, I think. They've said at the moment it's still on, they're meant to be going Tuesday, but to see them again on Friday to get updated info.

 

All a bit up in the air really.

What a worry, I really feel for you. They do say that Sharm is OK at the moment but who is to say that that wont change without warning. The last thing that you want to worry about on you hard earned holiday is a concern about your safety.

A colleagues mother is in Sharm at this very minute and so far things seem OK.

Egypt officially cancelled and fully refunded. Off to Cape Verde instead!
