Bluetooth help please!

Recommended Posts

You should be able to navigate from your pooter to see the phone and files on it.

TBH I have always found Bluetooth to be pants, and after warnings from my techie friend, Rosie and I keep it turned off on our phones - people can hack onto your phone and use it to make calls!

Do you have a cable for your phone? I've found that to be the best way to grab files.

Thanks Clare - will try the grab from the pooter. It is hubbys phone and he has lost the cable  but there are some pics of YSs Beaver investiture that I want to save! (will remember to keep it turned off normally - it did freak me when I was setting it up and it picked up all the phones of the Mums walking past our house to school this morning! )

Yes, it's easy to hack into someone's phone; the worst culprits are those Bluetooth headsets  It would mean that anyone with an ounce of sense could see all your contacts, texts and (if they had a bit of savvy) use your phone. My friend is a hacker who works in police IT security and forensic IT; he finds it amusing to pick up on other people's phones and blast them with rock music, then send them a text warning them that their set-up isn't secure. :?

You can get cables pretty cheaply Snowy - we have a stall in our local shopping centre and they sell them for a couple of quid.

Turn bluetooth on on your computer.

Try going to your gallery or wherever your phone stores the picture and press send. Options then come up and one should be bluetooth. You don't actually have to activate bluetooth on your phone till you choose to send it whereupon it should ask if you want to activate. Click yes and then accept when it comes up on your computer.

I just put one on the weather thread.

Hope this helps.

Nope, not having any luck :( It won't talk to the laptop, despite both devices being able to 'see' each other; won't pick up my ipods bluetooth, will only give the option of 'send as message' so I've even tried sending them to my own phone, but it just says 'message cannot be sent' Darn stupid phone  This is the point at which, if it were mine, it would be thrown at a wall!

I have decided that Bluetooth is evil, since it now will not have anything to do with my phone after doing a computer recovery :x

Luckily I can use a USB port lead, but I did have to do some adjustments to the phone settings to use it as a means of transfer rather than a way to charge.

Are you able to try using a lead at all?

Nope, won't email either :roll::(

Just had a thought. Rather than getting your own phone to send an email.

Go to your address book and put in a new entry, your email......not a phone number.

Then go back to your pictures and send an ordinary multimedia message but instead of sending it to a phone number send it to your newly added email address.

The problem with these electronic gizmos is that if you can't understand the route cause you're scuppered. I hate it!!!!

I have a 2 year old Blu Ray player, good one, expensive, which suddenly started to refuse to play the odd DVD. Turns out new firmware had to be installed. You can burn an update from website but only on a PC...I have a Mac. :wall:

Eventually got the CD burned but it wouldn't work on player.

Samsung support useless.I ask them if they can send me an update CD. They say a player that age won't need new firmware. :wall:

You can do it via internet link but all my stuff is wireless,no wireless option on player and heaven knows where all my wires are.Buy ethernet cable. Unhook player from tele upstairs, bring down to plug into router, and portable tele.....No HDMI socket. :wall::wall:

Borrow HD ready portable from neighbour.

Crikey it worked. Took an hour to download though.Phew!!

Yes it does Fred

Then you *should* be able to double click on the device and browse its contents. If that doesn't work, get the picture up on your phone and try looking under options (whilst looking at the picture) and see if there are any send over bluetooth options.
