Muppet81
When we go on holiday this year my Dad will be looking after out 6 ladies who live in a Gardencraft Wernlas hen house . Dad finds it difficult to bend and we are looking at possible feeder types for something which may be easier than our existing metal trough which is on the floor. There seems to be a massive array on the internet. We are considering one which can be filled with enough feed for a few days and can be suspended inside the wire run (it has a solid roof). Also like the idea of some sort of hopper that could perhaps be fixed to the side and filled from outside the henrun but cannot find anything like that. Found a freestanding hopper on legs and that would have been great except that it was 1 metre high and there is not enough height in the run to take it. Could anyone give me any advice please? Redwing
I like this sort of hopper for feed http://www.chicken-house.co.uk/acatalog/Eton_feed___Grit_Hopper_for_poultry.htmlbut it needs a sheltered run really. I have two and use them without the lids. snipped a couple of strands in the chicken wire and use a wide mouth funnel to fill them up from outside the run This sort of thing is good too http://www.chicken-house.co.uk/acatalog/3kg_Green_and_White_Chicken_Feeder.html they can be hung from the roof of a run and filled easily - if the run isnt sheltered then you'd need the cover for the top These are good but couldnt be hung much higher than your existing trough http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/190461908687?ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&rvr_id=210195363246&crlp=1_262531_281231&UA=WVI7&GUID=6a21d00d1250a0aad4525e12fe040aec&mt_id=635&query=%7Bquery%7D&fitem=190461908687&linkin_id=8060231&kw=%7Bquery%7D&ff4=262531_281231
Muppet81
Thank you Redwing for your advice. We have opted for one of the green and white plastic ones which will hold 8kg.
