bluekarin
That's what I thought too, but seems not. A ruse to get you to buy the book me thinks It doesn't take ages to do but I think I will try piping bags next time and see how I go with it then. bluekarin
I made Ollys Penny cake at the weekend and have kept it until yesterday. All the kids ate it - even the hubby who 'doesn't like cake'! It is delicious! My mixed fruit was sultanas, chopped dates and mixed peel along with the cherries. I will be making this again and again, so thank you
Olly
I'm just delighted that it's proved so popular! It really is a winner - as said above, even people who 'don't like fruit cake' will scarf it down. Perhaps I should tell Penny!
bluekarin
I think you should! Then again, would she ask for royalties?
Eggasperated
I baked Lorraine Pascales Crouching Tiger Hidden Zebra cake yesterday. Went ok apart from having to bake it for 20 minutes longer than told - 55 instead of 35 mins, so a bit dry. I used too much flour in the chocolate part, melted stork instead or oil and possibly a too small diameter tin. Now looking online, it seems I should have made two cakes and not the one large one I made this last weekend, the recipe was in the Times weekend magazine and was made in the one large tin. I found it really easy to make but took ages to put in the tin; mine was a little wet in the middle despite testing it with a skewer but it was a really nice cake and stayed moist for several days. I found it a nice change from some of the sickly cream filled and iced Mary Berry ones I had been making and it got a thumbs up from the family .
