mollyripkim
My girls are all the same age, about 10 months now, and all laying and crouching. But I have never heard Flo make a grown up chicken noise like the others. She is very friendly but just cheeps like a chick. Has anyone else had this. She actually looks immature as well as has no face furnishings. Maybe she is just a late developer?
gongladosh
Our little Houdini (a chicken of fate that we found!) is now laying eggs, but still cheeps from time to time. The others all grew out of it. It's funny to think of hens' voices breaking isn 't it?
oneyolktoanother
sometimes one of mine who is nearly 2 still ceeps now and again
Kylie1007
Mine are about 5 months and 2 of them bok bok bok but the silkie squawks!
LuckyChickenLover-
Mine stopped when they were about 8 weeks old, and I haven't heard them do it since. It was so cute when their voices were 'breaking' . It would just be "cheepcheepcheepcheepcheep" then all of a sudden "BOK".
mollyripkim
Thanks for your replies, assume her voice just hasn't broken yet. She is so sweet though and cheep cheep cheeps to me all the time
chickanne
Louise has literally broken her voice! Had a completely normal range of bokking and talking noises until one day they saw something (I know not what) at the bottom of the garden that got the pair of them honking like guard geese. The were stretched up as tall as could be making seeing off noises as they gradually stalked towards the "foe". Afterwards, Louise had completely lost her voice but it started to get it back after a couple of days. It never has returned to completely normal so she makes the funniest growling noises! sandyhas3chucks
mine have done it when they are very unwell
mollyripkim
Oh dear I don't think she is unwell as she has never made a noise other than cheeping. The others went mad at overhead crows today, lots of neck stretching and bok boking but only cheeps from poor little Flo!
sandyhas3chucks
Oh dear sorry not meant to worry you as she did not sound ill
mollyripkim
That's ok, it's better to get other opinions so I checked her for mites etc and watched her poo and all normal. They are going back to the breeder for a holiday in April so if she hasn't found her voice by then I will ask her too.
