Erm...not sure how this happened!

Recommended Posts

Well it's just over a week since I got my 4 girls, and they've settled very happily together. No problems at all - just the usual trying to get them used to us and the cats, and watching for sihn of them getting closer to laying (watching their combs grow and change colour, etc) All good stuff! :)

Today I took a day off work to spend with the girls and was out in the sunshine keeping an eye on their free-ranging when something happened just after dinnertime (lunch for those of you in the south! ........... ....... ........

............... ........... a van pulled up and my new cream crested legbars arrived!! :D

So the two new girls went into the cube run, while the established flock were FRing next to it. The afternoon passed very pleasantly, and I tried to leave them out as late as possible but of course they had to meet in the end. And it wasn't nice (even using a plant mister on squirt option!)...but they are all tucked up asleep in the cube now and I shall be up before dawn tomorrow to check on them armed with purple spray and the plant mister if need be. :anxious:

Well, I approached the run very tentatively this morning scared of what state the new ones might be in. SO I put out two lots of food first, then opened up the cube door...and out popped 2 gingernuts, 2 pepperpots and a cream legbar - the other stayed hiding inside.

I left instructions for my daughter to make sure both legbars were in the cube with the door shut if anything really kicked off again (with their own food and water of course) but when I got back from work (early....I had a 'bad stomach' - probably from worry!) the door was still open although both new girls were in the cube. I refilled their food bowl and checked the nest box. The rubber egg I put in there was half buried, and so was another rubber egg that somebody else must have put in - I could see the seam line on it.....couldn't I? 'Where would my son or daughter get a blue rubber egg from? Well it feels like the rubber egg....better not try bouncing it though....but there's shredded paper stuck to it. My this is a pretty convincing egg....erm, there's a tiny smear of blood on it....but they only arrived yesterday afternoon...and they've had to put up with the bigger girls hounding them....surely not.......' *Daft grin* 'WOW! I have an egg!!!!!!!'

You just don't feel the same way when you buy a box of eggs from Tesco, do you? :o
