Wondering if a more experienced chook lover can identify the culprit? Hubby suspects one of the Orpingtons. It weighs 63g, list of girls is in my signature. Milestone reached! today, after having our chooks for exactly one week today I collected the sixth egg making our first half dozen! We're pretty sure that all six are from just one hen as they all look very similar apart from the first which was a little speckled. We know that six eggs from six hens in seven days is nothing to write home about, but it's a good start! Here's to a full dozen by this time next week! TheFeatheredFiend Posted March 10, 2011 Author Share Posted March 10, 2011 I was working in the garden today up by the eglu and noticed that only five of our six ladies were out and about, a quick peek into the nest box revealed Mrs Featherbottom squatting in there. A few minutes later, there's an almighty bokking followed shortly by her bouncing down the ladder back outside. Another peek in the nest box revealed a cream-coloured egg still hot from her bot which therefore confirmed that Mrs Featherbottom, our Buff Orpington is indeed the mystery egglayer.
