Omletina Kyckling
Ok, for those of you who were at Omletstock 4 and wanted the Butterkaka recipe, here it is! 75g margarine or butter 200ml milk 1.5 tsp dried easy yeast 1/4 tsp salt 80g sugar 1 egg 260g strong white bread flour mixed with 300g plain flour Filling butter for spreading, caster sugar & cinnamon Topping Icing sugar and water Melt the butter in a pan, then add the milk and heat until blood temperature 37degC If using a breadmaker on a dough cycle, add all other ingredients in the first listing, plus the milk/butter mixture and put on dough cycle If making by hand, mix other ingredients in first listing to the butter/milk mixture and knead well as you would with dough until it feels soft and elastic. leave to rise for an hour. Split dough into two pieces and roll our each piece into a long rectangle. spread butter over the dough, then sprinkle on sugar and cinnamon (I haven't put the amounts as I do it by sight!) Roll the dough so it forms a long sausage. Cut pieces of dough into 5cm lengths and arrange them facing upwards in a cake tin with a loose bottom, around 24cm diameter. Leave to rise until it has doubled in size (when I've made it, I've made up the dough the night before and left it overnight so it rises really well) Bake in the lower part of the oven for around 20 minutes at 200degC (180 in fan oven) Whilst it's still warm, mix together icing sugar with a small amount of water to make a stiffish icing, then spoon over the top of the butterkaka! Mrs Webmuppet
Just finished making this - sitting here munching a piece for my belated brekkie with a cup of coffee ( in the interests of science etc)- yummy - don't think it'll last long with the lads at work ( it's usually like feeding time at the lions enclosure )

Mrs Webmuppet
High praise from the lads at work............the Butterkaka didn't last long - it was declared even better than the cupcakes. It was suggested that I might like to make another................ok it's rising on top of the stove as we speak! Updated to add: the 2nd Butterkaka only lasted 3 hours at work barely had time to go cold!
