Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Hi.

I'm new here and am hoping to get 3 or 4 chickens later next month.

 

However......at the weekend I found a fox cub, eyes still shut, in my garden, not far away from a very large shed.

I also heard what I thought was more baby fox type noises coming from under the shed. The cub had gone the following day, I assume the mother had taken him back into a den under this shed.

 

I'm worried that if I get my chickens as planned they will just become instant fox family food, is there anything I can do?

Ensure that your run is as fox proof as possible, thats all you can really do

 

Weldmesh rather than chicken wire is best and consider wiring under the run or at least have a skirt of wire around the run (like the Onlet products do)

 

Wire over the top too

I have five jack russels, and used to have 4 ducks and 23 chickens - the foxes were the problems for us... our dogs are brilliant.
