Doggy addition to the family.

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to share my news. On friday we added a lovely lurcher to our family of 4 chooks and a deerhound. From the local rescue centre where we originally intended to foster dogs pending re-homing. Anyway Alfie turned up and although less than half the size of our deerhound he is settling in well. House trained, loves food walks and rides in the car and so far has only chewed up my deerhounds sheepskin rug. Left his own which is identical.

He said hello to the chooks and they pecked him so all sorted there. Hopefully all will go well...........now all I want is a cube and more hens!

Will get husband to load a picture when he has finished sorting out new dog essentials. Dog meeting would be great if anyone is passing by. We have a garden suitable for dogs so would be nice to get together.

Alfie is settling in well and seems to be enjoying life. I have never seen a dog eat so fast, is this a lurcher trait? Deerhounds are so much more refined.

Yes thank-you Claret. we always use raised bowls for food and water and since Alfie arrived there's nothing to clean up afterwards. Both asleep now after the morning walk, play and breakfast. We always feed twice a day as I expect do all long dog owners. Wish the weather was better, very cold here and need to clean the eglu.

Apologies, still waiting for husband to have the time to load them. Alfie contiunues to settle in and I think our deerhound has finally accepted that he is here for good. They are getting on well but Alfie wants to play all the time despite not being a puppy and our deerhound enjoys sleeping. Luckily the nice weather has enabled them to spend a lot of time outside. Would highly recommend a rescue dog if you have the time and space. Wish we could have more.
