scarlettohara
I have 6 pekin eggs under a broody pilkie, nothing had happened by day 21 so was going to give up but was advised to wait till day 24. Yesterday I heard a couple cheeping so left them under her - this am can only hear one and no pipping from the other but I can hear internal tapping. What can I do to help ? My broody has been great - I can only think maybe the humidity in the shed was not right - too damp perhaps ?. They were eggs I bought in with proven fertility. craftyhunnypie
Mummy will probably help it out - she will be all fidgety & look like she's pecking underneath her. Fingers crossed! Emma.x

chicken bark
Yayyy. I'm sure she is a very proud Mummy (as you should be too). Glad it seems to have not been a disaster after all.
Jools
I had a very slow hatch under a broody two years ago and I think it was because the nest wasn't quite right - either the area was to big or there wasn't enough material for her to make it deep enough to confine the eggs under her. I think that they all got a turn at not being quite warm enough and so hatched several days late. It's a good job broodies can't count! craftyhunnypie
yes! Fingers crossed little chicky gets a friend. It's probably taken this long due to the fluctuation in temperature with the weather. They might not have properly kicked off until a couple of days after sitting. Emma.x

scarlettohara
She looks really tired so I'm hand feeding her mealworms and treats every day to build her up
