Greenhouse advice

Recommended Posts

my mum has a B&Q one, its been dismantled and reassembled at a few houses now and has stood up to the abuse, its not the sturdiest thing in the world and needs a sheltered spot and a few of the panes have had to be taped in before as they lift when its windy

The Keder greenhouses are supposed to be good but we couldnt afford one, we ended up buying our glass one from a chap who buys old ones and reconditions them, our 10 x 8 greenhouse cost about £500 delivered, base laid for the perimeter and assembled, money well spent :D

I have a Walton's polycarbonate, on bare earth which I dig over and fertilise a little courtesy of the chickens in the autumn before putting it to bed. None of the panels have ever blown out. The door is apt to dislodge at the bottom if it is windy, but I just lodge a large plant pot at the base if the wind is getting up and that does the trick. Grew peppers, chillis, tomatoes, cucumbers and aubergine in it last year and it was just lovely.

Having been told this by neighbours and ignored it, advice always seems to be to decide what size you need and then buy one double that size
