Hi peeps! Im going to try the keratin hair treament comme ceci-http://www.straightenmyhair.com/?categoryPage=1 but I have quite a bad scalp condition that I keep in check with a special shampoo. After Keratin you cannt use anything containing Sodium Chloride (salt) can anyone recommend a shampoo that will fit the bill?

I cant help you with the shampoo but are you aware there was a health warning recently. This week I read an article warning of the dangerous ingredients in keratin hair treatments (that are often hidden and not stated on the list)... now I cant remember were I read it but have found something similar here

Again not sure about the keratin but we have started to use one of the shampoo bars from Lush which is for scalp problems. It has Cade oil in it and has had a good effect on both of us - not a flake to be seen now! Its is called 'Soak and Float' and does not have any salt in it.

ingredients : sodium lauryl sulphate, water, cade oil, lavender oil, marigold petals, rose petals, limonene, perfume and colour (not sure why the last two)

Don't know about the keratin, but I use organic shampoo because anything with SLS (sodium laureth sulphate) in gives me a really itchy scalp. I wasn't brave enough to try the 'no shampoo' approach (search for that thread if you have an hour or two to spare!). The non SLS shampoos don't leave your hair feeling 'squeaky' clean or ultra shiny but my hair's been much less greasy since I started using them.

Would endorse avoiding SLS where possible, I try to get shampoo, bath oils and handwashes without and have much softer skin than before and my OH no loger gets problems with really dry patches on his hands/feet - quite a few options now in health shops and online. I like Faith in Nature and I think most/all Aveda products are SLS free.
