craftyhunnypie
I hope someone can help please. I have a sore rash on the back of my neck. A bit like excema / psoriasis - it has spread recently down my neck & is annoying. I'm not one for the doctors & medicine, so does anyone have any tips to help? I'd like an aromatherapy type oil I could rub on if possible. No idea what has caused this - don't normally get skin conditions. skillick
Hi My daughter had bad excema as a child and one of the best things we found to help her was porridge oats. Just put a couple of handfuls in a muslin bag or an old pair of tights and hang around the bath taps and run the bath water through it. You can then squeeze the 'juice' on the rash if you want. This really made a huge difference to my daughter and after bathing with the porridge oats for 2 weeks her excema had almost gone and has never been as bad since. I have also used this to help with dry skin in the summer.
teacake
have done the porridge oats for chicken pox and worked a treat for that so would think that would be great. or aloe vera gel.
craftyhunnypie
Ooo thanks - I've actually got both in, so will give them a whirl. Emma.x
soapdragon
Camomile is very soothing for skin and the pure oil is safe to apply neat (sparingly, though!) Or you could make strong tea with a camomile tea bag and apply either the bag or tea to the affected area. Good luck!
AJuff
Light therapy can help too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_therapy#Psoriasis_and_eczema
Lavenders_Blue
I would second (third?) the oats suggestion. Squeezing the bag produces a lovely, soothing 'milk'. If you're feeling creative, James Wong also has a recipe for Oat and Almond Cream which also contains chamomile essential oil. It's not difficult to make - just a bit time consuming. Snowy
Emma sorry to be a spoilsport here but I would suggest at least one visit to the doctor - if only for a diagnosis. Skin rashes can be due to all sorts of things - better to get a diagnosis first, then you can treat appropriately with whatever takes your fancy!
