Henergy
We are off on holiday on friday for a week, so I have taken the girls to the chicken sitters today. I feel like I did when I first left the kids at nursery (well almost !!) Anyway, their holiday home looked lovely. A nice large fenced foxproof area for just them plus lovely clean house, food water etc. So I feel sure they'll be treated well. My youngest was not hapy at leaving them though - I think he thought we'd gone to get more !!! I'm going to give their coop a big clean & hose down tonight so that it'll be lovely for when they come home again.

percy049
Our girls are going away for 4 nights at the weekend. I know how it feels leaving them (as they have already stayed at that hotel before). I hope they behave, as last time they kicked all the straw out of their house into their run (probably because they were bored, as they were used to having a large garden to run around in!) Henergy
Well what a weird morning without the 'normal' routine !!! Not liking this one bit - it'll be fine once we are actually on hols but being at home without chickens feels odd ! On the plus side - the coop had a massive clean last night & hose down
Lavenders_Blue
I felt exactly the same when hubby and I went away last year and the chooks went over to my parents for a holiday. I took them over a couple of days before we went away as my parents hadn't looked after them before and wanted me to be on hand for questions til they were confident they knew what they were doing. It was horrible waking up the next day and seeing the garden looking so bare and lifeless! Strangely, it was a bit sad bringing them home too, as our garden is somewhat barren (we're slowly getting things planted, but lost a few things over the winter too ) and my parents garden is full of established plants and shrubs. The girls were having a whale of a time and looked ever so bored to be back in our barren desert! Mum and dad enjoyed looking after them, but the girls did decimate a number of large plants (alstroemeria proved to be a particular favourite) so I think they were pleased to repatriate them from that point of view! daxigirl
They'll all have a fab time and won't miss you one little bit. When I look after my mum's dachshund she's allowed to do and have all the same things as mine. You know chewies, off the lead running, (incredibly whispered tones around here) chicken wings & her personal favourite, barking at people passing the hedge. My mum comes back all full of remorse at having left her, when she's had a whale of a time.
surfer_chicken
I'm so glad I don't have to send my chickens away- our neighbours look after them while we're on holiday. I still miss them when we go away though I hope you all have a lovely break
Mollie333
My Mothers friends come and look after mine - they say it's a pleasure. 'Pay' them by letting them have any eggs.
Henergy
And they are home They look happy & healthy and have been laying well, so I am pleased. Also came away with a box of mixed eggs from his POLs - wonderful mix of colours including a green one.
