Guest
Anyone heard Kate Bush's new single - "Man on the Mountain"? I'm glad she's back, but not sure if I like it. After listening to it a couple of times (from iTunes), I find it a bit irritating..... grd

Maybe I'm just getting old(er)
Popcorn
Not heard it yet, and I've been trying all day too!
Mel (& Paul)
Radio 2 have been giving it a lot of air time - but it does mean you have to put up with Terry Wogan..........
Jem
I used to be quite a fan of kate bush (first time around ). I realy thinks that she should have quit while she was ahead. I think the new single lacks general effort and the lyrics are muddled. There again she's got far more talent than i'll ever have so who am I to criticise Cheers Jem
Guest
I also loved Kate Bush. Her songs were great and I really like the intelligence in them - a real artist, not a pop singer at all. I haven't heard the new single, maybe it grows on you or you need to analyse it a bit to appreciate it. I think she lived in Kent, don't know if she still does. I must remember to put Terry Wogan on in the morning. And I won't mind a bit. I remember going to school, aged 9, with his jokes ringing in my ears and now I'm decades older than that, he's still there. I think he's fantastic and still very funny - or perhaps zany is a better description.
The Dogmother
I'll second that Ginette, he makes me laugh in the morning and doesn't irritate like some of the other DJs on at the moment. I like anything from Tom Jones through to Moby and Ibiza hard dance - rave girl, me! but also love listening to stuff from my youth (hence the chicken's names). Haven't heard Kate Bush's new one yet, but must make an effort to find it.
Mrs Frugal
I haven't heard the new single but which Kate Bush song is it they are using on the NSPCC adverts at the moment? It's a lovely song which I'm sure they used for a film a few years back. I'd love to know what it's called.
Popcorn
Is her new one something about whistling in the wind?
Mel (& Paul)
No Gina, that would be Andrew Lloyd Webber and I think Ms Bush would be most offended you had got them muddled up
Popcorn
Hee hee....I was sure it was something to do with wind. Maybe it was Sarah Brightman I was thinking of.
Tom and Barbara
The song on the NSPCC ad is This Woman's Work - it was originally in the film She's having a Baby and is on the Kate Bush Album with the black and white cover showing Kate with a rose.....its one of my favourites...spoookily enough I watched the film last night after hearing the NSPCC ad........ Jangle
It's on the album "The Sensual World" on side 2. I bought my first Kate album in 1978 and have everything she has ever recorded. I haven't heard the new single yet, but am awaiting the new double album, Aerial, due out in November. I shall be first in the queue to buy it. Mrs Frugal
Thank you both of you for the details on the Kate Bush song. I've placed an order and can't wait ! I'll cry buckets as I remember it in the film now and it was in a really sad bit, wasn't it!!

Guest
I've noticed that the new single complete with video is being played on Channel 4 at 10:40pm tonight. Then I'll be able to join in the discussion!
Popcorn
Blast! I missed it Ginette. Well, I joined in the discussion and I clearly have the complete wrong end of the stick, so get stuck in - (take some of the egg off my face!)
Mrs Blue Sky
If I can stick my oar in here, I think it's a brilliant song. And it is about the wind whistling, and about Elvis... there's a line in it says Another waitress says she's having your baby... Say what you like about Kate Bush she's a one-off, no-one else like her. and she has had years and years off work to have her son and bring him up away from all the silly business, so perhaps that is why is seems like she has gone off the boil a bit. I really like Robbie William's new song Tripping as well what do people think about that one? Maybe I have it about me for dub right now, as both songs have that rhythm going on. Popcorn
Thank you Mrs Blue Sky I knew i'd heard something about whistling and wind in the new Kate Bush song and that it had nothing to do with Andrew Lloyd Webber. I thought I was going a bit bonkers then! Well, now I know I've heard the right song, I loved it. I'm not a Robbie Williams fan at all, but I also love his new single. A different sound from him, that I quite like
