Snowy
Anyone had a go at it? I've seen a couple of studios spring up where you can go and paint your pots and have a coffee. When we were at Wellington Park the other week, there was a small studio in the park, so I had to have a go. I loved it! I do wish I had spent more time thinking about my design beforehand as I ended up having to plan it very quickly, but I am still quite pleased with the result. I opted for a large bowl so that at least it would be useful as well as (hopefully!) decorative. I'd love to have a go at a themed set of things for the kitchen - they had storage jars, salt and pepper pots, serving plates, as well as mugs, plates and bowls. Would need to plan my design better though

Lesley
That's lovely! I go quite often to a place called Lilac Ladybird near here, they do all sorts of crafts but I love painting pottery.
Chook n Boo Mum
I work P/T in one of these pottery studios ......some of the designs we have sitting ready to fire are....well ..interesting ...and some are simply breathtaking. We become very popular before Christmas with people getting their baby's hand & foot prints immortalised for Granny/Grandpa/Aunty Gerty Sha x

Snowy
No talent involved at all Sandie - thats what made it fun! Just chose the colours that I thought would look nice together and splodged it on with a sponge! Very therapeutic though Sha I can imagine some of the 'designs' - MS did a plate with Bart Simpson on it, black all round the edges and 'eat my shorts' on the rim! bluekarin
We have a similar place in town http://www.splashofcolourcafe.co.uk/ The kids have had a few birthday parties there, before coming back to our house for food and drinks. I also took my YD there on a teacher development day and I painted a jug. It's lots of fun and there are loads of templates and stamps you can use. Great way to while away a few hours
Olly
The place near us has closed now, but my friends and I had a couple of birthday parties there - grown-up ones, not for children! They let us take over the place for the evening, bring some wine and nibbles and we all had tremendous fun painting things - I'm rubbish at it but my arty friend did a beautiful jug. They have stencils and so on. If anyone is thinking of it, I'd definitely recommend it - great fun, and even if you're not very artistic, they look pretty good once they've been glazed and fired.
