lolimac
Hi all. After a lovely afternoon in the garden with the chooks and our two pups i was just sat thinking what a chilled out day we had all had !!!My hubby took the girls back to 'cluckingham palace' armed with one of thier favorite treats..sun flower hearts...After about an hour i said i'd go up and have my usual girly chat with them..I couldn't believe it when there was Eliza one of my new girls laid slumped in the run.....she was dead !!! we've had her since march.Shes been laying and had no problems that we are aware of..a gorgeous big girl..Rhody sussex X.I know there is no point in me going over the whys and werefores but can't get my head around it being so sudden...Maybe shes eaten something she shouldn't have ! i just don't know...we'll keep a close whatch on the others just incase... Eliza is now resting under the plum tree with gladys...so sorry you have gone so soon...

Duncan08
So sorry to hear, we lost our white star just a couple of days ago in exactly the same way. She was fine in the morning and in the evening deteriorated and died within 4 hours. It was such a shock and I have no idea why, an external exam showed nothing at all untoward, you are right it does make you a little paranoid for the other girls, I am frightened to go and look when I get home from work and keep picking them up and checking them over. On a positive note it was quick and she didnt have time to get prodded and poked by a vet, she just died very peacefully in her sleep. I suppose it could have been much worse.
