Is this a Mite attack?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Mrs Miggins has developed this red bald area on her chest. I can't see any mites or eggs and Mrs Doyle does not seem to be suffering with the same thing. She does not seem to be ill and is eating, drinking and laying ok. Can anyone help with identifying this problem.

Yes! She does look like that -and the area of lost feathers has spread over last few days. But she hasn't recently been staying in the nest box so maybe she's not TOO broody. I did pick up the tip from another thread about ice cubes in the next box so i have been putting a frozen cooler pad in there. Maybe that's stopped her in time. She and Ginger are still not free-ranging as i also started them on Flubenvet this week so both just sitting looking at bit bored in their new WIR. Honestly, i worried less about my son when he was little than i do about my 2 girls!
