chestnutmare
I love my skelter because the eggs are arranged in order (and it looks nice ) but when I take eggs off it I have to move all of the other eggs down. I'm thinking this might be because some of the eggs are still quite small so aren't rolling along properly... I could be wrong. Would a bantam skelter work better for now? I don't want to buy another skelter only for it to do the same thing... Edit: Okay so there's a 'bantam skelter' on flyte so fancy and skelter for small-medium and medium-large on Omlet shop. I'm guessing the small-medium and bantam is the same size just decribed differently by flyte so fancy and Omlet. Have I got a medium-large skelter I wonder? OH bought me it so I don't know... Lavenders_Blue
My girls' eggs often get stuck on my egg skelter and I have to roll them along. They turn round endways or don't roll down properly because one of the girls has laid a wonky egg. I think it's just one of those things that happens because eggs are not uniform in size and shape. chestnutmare
My girls' eggs often get stuck on my egg skelter and I have to roll them along. They turn round endways or don't roll down properly because one of the girls has laid a wonky egg. I think it's just one of those things that happens because eggs are not uniform in size and shape. Some of the eggs do point down as they roll along but I'm looking at the skelter now and all of the eggs are looking 'normal' - no wonky eggs. So buying a smaller skelter won't make a difference? I was convinced a smaller skelter would be better. Also, I should have said I have to move them along every time I take eggs off the skelter, not just now and then. Lavenders_Blue
Hmmmm, I guess there's only one way to find out if a bantam egg skelter would work better... What size are your small eggs, are they banty sized?
chestnutmare
Hmmmm, I guess there's only one way to find out if a bantam egg skelter would work better... What size are your small eggs, are they banty sized? I don't think I've ever seen a bantam egg before but I say my eggs are small-medium. They don't look small to me - they're from three hybrids. Willow tends to lay round eggs rather than pointy eggs. Are they small? ... Okay had to get my scales to weigh them... Yesterday's eggs and day before:- Willow's egg: 50g (day before 51g) Snowy's: 57g (day before 60g) Belle's: 63g (day before 58g) Found this information: Very large (XL) - >73 Large (L) - 63-73 Medium (M) - 53-63 Small (S) - <53 So going by yesterday's and the day before's eggs Willow lays a small , Snowy lays a medium egg and Belle lays a medium egg. Purplemaniacs
I don't have any problems with mine, I liked it so much I got a second one in purple Occasionaly an egg gets stuck and needs adjusting but not very often. I have the standard size one and most of my eggs are 60 to 70g. Chrissie
chestnutmare
Chrissie, your eggs are larger than mine. Don't get me wrong, I love my skelter too - just would love it more if I didn't have to move each egg down it. I've had a message from a member asking if I would like to exchange it - I think direct from the company.
fluffy chick
I wouldn't bother personally. I have a banty version and (when I had hybrids) their eggs were too big and got stuck in it. My eggs don't roll down either. I just itch them along a bit

Egluntyne
I'm not massively keen on my egg skelter. I find the eggs always stick.
LunaKiw1
I just move mine down manually and love the look of the Skelter!

Lavenders_Blue
And me! I like to know I am using the eggs in date order. Before we had the egg skelter we just kept the eggs in boxes on the worktop and got in an awful muddle as to which were the oldest and which were the newest, now we always know!
