Luvachicken Posted June 4, 2011 Share Posted June 4, 2011 Having just lost my 2 lovely gingernut rangers I've been considering wyandotte bantams, but apart from reading that they were reliable, hardy and friendly, I don't actually know much else about them. Are they ok in a small garden ? Do they lay small eggs ? How good are they at escaping ? Do they "fly" ? So many things to find out... I've only had my girls 2 and a bit years, so I think there is still a lot to learn and I want to make sure they are the right choice before I decide. For instance, I know nothing about broody hens,do wyandottes even get broody ? I'm not sure I know enough to change breeds ? Plum Posted June 4, 2011 Share Posted June 4, 2011 Good choice, mine lay about 45g eggs but not counted how many as I have several bantams. One has been broody and very moody with it which was quite entertaining. They don't fly or escape and are happy in the run or my garden, what I mean is they don't pace the door like my coral nick does When they were little they used to shoot sideways quite often and fly just above the ground. When very small - 10wk ish they used to panic and shoot vertically but since calming down at about 15weeks they've been smashing.
