Griffin
I don't quite know what went wrong with Bridgets hatch. She had 18 eggs that made it to full term, ten hatched, she crushed and killed one before it hatched, one pipped but then died in shell and six were dead in shell. I'm surprised that so many didn't hatch, they didn't even pip internally. Such a shame to get so far. But she has ten very happy and healthy babies, born on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday Bantam buff columbian Wyandotte. Very tiny chick! It's slightly bigger sibling: LF blue Brahma: Black mottled Pekin: LF Blue partridge Brahma: and it's sibling: LF Salmon Faverolles: and another: and another: and another! poppy ben grace
Wow they are beautiful! Lovely pictures. I think bridget did really well to hatch 10 eggs, what a proud mum she must be.

Griffin
I think that all four salmon Faverolles are girls I've only ever hatched girl Faverolles so I've nothing to compare them to, I know boys have darker wing feathers but this lot all look to be girls again I'd put money on the blue Brahma being a boy, barely any feathers yet it's massive. No idea about the others yet, all girls hopefully They were allowed to free range for the first time this morning. My grass is a foot long in places and I thought Bridget would enjoy having a nibble on it but no, all she wanted to do was scratch about in the corner I'm clearing so that I can plant out my cabbages & sprouts Unfortunately it's very close to my tomatoes, courgettes, peas, runner beans, blueberries and strawberries so I was watching them like a hawk. I started to film a video of Bridget & the chicks which to most people is probably quite dull but then Bridget & I start to argue near the end which makes it very amusing She wanted to dig up my courgettes then whilst I was dealing with her, some of her chicks started on the peas I had to stop filming and they were all returned to their run soon after

scarlettohara
and Bridget took no notice I liked the bit near the end where Mum did a litle call 'come and eat the courgettes' and they all ran after her

surfer_chicken
I liked the bit near the end where Mum did a litle call 'come and eat the courgettes' and they all ran after her This was my favourite bit too. A lovely video I can't wait for my chicks to hatch now. I shouldn't go on here, seeing everyone else's chicks is making me even more impatient
