What is the most popular / best feed for chickens?

 

I've read a few people on here talk about Garvo, but it seems pretty expensive for feed (although I am just starting out)... Plus postage seems to be pricey!

 

Also, where do you get your feed from? If online, could you provide the website?

 

Would anyone recommend buying from a local farmer?

I use Golden Yolk Layers Pellets from my local Equestrian suppliers. They cost about 7 quid per sack.

I get Gavro, it comes from a place a few miles from me and they deliver free (the lady rides her horse that is kept nearby so drops the bags off on route), the layers pellets are £9.20, my chicks have Gavro but aren't very keen! They are all healthy, but I don't know that is just because of Garvo - I would like to take some of the credit!

Mine are usually on Marriages Layers Mash (about £8 for 20kg) from our local equestrian shop, but when I couldn't get that last time I bought a bag of Spillers Layers Mash from our local farm shop Pet Warehouse place. which I think is a bit more powdery but they don't seem to mind and both girls fine and very healthy and laying well

I've finally plumped for Garvo - lots of ideas on 2 recent threads..............check out their website and find local suppliers - there's 2 in Lancs - 1 will only be £9.50 for 20kg

I've recently gone back to Ex-Batt crumb. Less mess than mash, more palatable then pellets.

They've all dived into it beak first!
