what colour are my chicks? -with pics

Recommended Posts

I bought some hatching eggs for my broody pekin, a mix of gold partridge and millifeur, six have hatched which is great, we have four dark coloured chicks with some brown on their new wing feathers and two sandy coloured chicks. Does anyone know if millifleur start out as dark chicks or do they have speckles from the beginning? Also are the two sandy ones gold partridge, one of the sandy chicks seems to be growing some white feathers on her/his back, confused :?

It looks like the lighter ones are the millefleur ones

I'm not sure what the dark ones will turn out like, the look much to dark to be gold partridge, were the breeding pens pure or crossed colours running together? the default of many cross colourings tends to be black

A couple of boys in there at least but some pretty girls too :D

Many thanks for all the replies, so it looks like I have two millifleur and four dodgy gold partridge. Hmmm, annoying when I made a point of getting the eggs from someone I thought kept pure breeds instead of going to ebay. It was the gold partridge that I was particulary interested in raising, ho hum you live and learn.
